In the first half, Rowan jumped out to the early lead when Christian Fountain scored an unassisted goal in the 12th minute. Diego Fontes tied the score at 1-1, scoring an unassisted goal less than a minute later. Then it was northern California native Kenneth Henry who helped the Golden Eagles take a 2-1 lead into the half by finding the back of the net in the 15th minute.
La Sierra would hang onto the lead early into the second half, until Christ Grammatico pulled Rowan even on an assist by Connor Moffat. But five minutes later, Joel Hernandez scored on a corner kick in the 54th minute in what looked like it might stand up for the game-winning goal. But with just over three minutes left in the match, Shane Dooley scored the equalizer on an assist by Brian Kahn. And that's the way things would stay through two overtimes.
Rowan outshot La Sierra 26-18 in the match. While goalkeeper Peter Martinez finished with eight save in all 110 minutes of play.
The Golden Eagles record now stands at 4-7-1 on the season. On Sunday, they will face their host this weekend, when they take the field against the Banana Slugs from UC Santa Cruz, before heading back home to host Bethesda University on Wednesday evening.
