Playing their second of nine straight home matches, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team hosted No. 15 Westmont College in tonight's match. La Sierra was looking to even the season series at one apiece, after a loss to the Warriors earlier last month. But despite a strong start by the Golden Eagles, they were up-ended in three straight games, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20.

La Sierra jumped out of the gate to take an early lead in Game 1, but the Warriors would fight back to catch the Golden Eagles at 20 apiece, and eventually go on to win Game 1, 25-23.

The Warriors used a .400 hitting percentage in Game 2, cruising to the 25-15 victory. They completed the three-game victory, using solid defense and timely hitting to build a small cushion, enough to win the match 3-0.

Westmont takes the season series 2-0, having beat the Golden Eagles in Santa Barbara, back on September 4.

The statistical leaders for the Golden Eagles in tonight's match were Lina Semaia who led the team in kills with 10. Senior Shelby Madigan followed close behind with nine kills and a game-high 16 digs. Lupe Garcia had six kills and Siao Malepeai finished with four kills in the match.

Junior setter Colleen Stafford assisted on 29 of the Golden Eagles 34 total kills.

The Golden Eagles fall to 15-9 on the season. They will attempt to stay in the playoff hunt, during this home stretch of the season, as they play host to Hope International University this coming Thursday evening at 7pm. The two teams have split their two meetings thus far this season. Both matches have gone the full five games.
