Fullerton, CA - The women's basketball team was looking to keep the momentum going coming off of their win at San Diego Christian this past Saturday night, as they traveled to Hope International University tonight. It was the second meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Royals, who defeated La Sierra 69-64 in their first meeting. Unfortunately, for the Golden Eagles, a flat performance resulted in a lopsided 70-42 loss to Hope International.
In the first half both teams struggled to find any rhythm. The Golden Eagles shot 9-of-34 and the Royals shot slightly better at 11-of-34. Hope went into the break with a slim 24-22 lead.
But the second half proved just as frustrating for the Golden Eagles who shot only 25 percent on 7-of-28 shooting, unable to convert numerous lay-up opportunities and open looks to the basket. Conversely, the Golden Eagles struggles on offense melted over to the defensive side of the floor, allowing the Royals transition baskets. The team shot 44 percent in the second half on 18-of-41 shooting.
The Golden Eagles will look to put this night behind them and move on and improve on their 2-9 record. The team will host William Jessup University on Saturday night in a women's and men's doubleheader. The women's game is scheduled for a 6pm tip-off.
