Golden Eagles Defeat Pacific Union For Second Consecutive Win

Riverside, CA - Playing their second of three consecutive games, the women's basketball team played host to Pacific Union College this evening, at the Alumni Pavilion.  They were looking to put consecutive wins together for the first time this season.  And after a slow start, the Golden Eagles slowly built a lead on their way to a 56-34 victory.

Neither team had a great shooting night.  The Golden Eagles shot just 31-percent, going 22-of-70 from the field.

The Golden Eagles took a 32-17 lead into the half.  Pacific Union came into the second half and cut the lead to 10 points before the Golden Eagles stopped the run with a 3-point shot and eventually stretched the lead to their final 22- point margin.

The 34 points allowed is a season-low allowed by the Golden Eagles women's basketball team.

The Golden Eagles also won the battle on the boards 58-39, including 23 offensive rebounds a season high.

Junior guard Natalia Hawthorne led the team with 16 points.  Victoria Lowe finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Lina Semaia pitched in with 10 rebounds and six points in just under 14 minutes of play.  Brittani Walker added nine rebounds and seven points.

The women's basketball team pushes their record to 4-10 on the season.  They will conclude the tournament weekend tomorrow afternoon with a game against Andrews University (Berrien Springs, Mich.).  Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm.
