San Marco, CA - Traveling to No. 1 Cal State San Marcos this afternoon, the Golden Eagles had the tough task of facing the top ranked team in the nation.  Throughout the afternoon doubleheader, San Marcos displayed why they are considered one of the best teams in the nation, defeating La Sierra in both games.

The Golden Eagles were held scoreless in both games.  The Cougars' Cortney Allen pitched a five-inning no-hitter in Game 1, with seven strikeouts and no walks, as San Marcos picked up the 8-0 win.  Aleena Bahling (1-3) picked up the loss for the Golden Eagles.

 

Game 2 was another 8-0 win for the Cougars who tallied eight runs on eight hits.  The Golden Eagles were able to muster three hits in Game 2 as Halley Nicholas, Monique Villasenor, and Ali Rios each finished the game with a single.

 

Jourdan Lamoureux pitched five complete innings for the victory, giving up three hits and collecting three strikeouts.  Jozelyn Salazar (0-1) picked up the loss for the Golden Eagles.

 

La Sierra is now 1-5 on the season.  The Golden Eagles will be back home on Friday afternoon, when they host Biola University.  Game 1 of the doubleheader begins at 12:30pm.
