San Marcos, Calif. - Looking to keep the momentum going from Monday's overtime victory over Bethesda, the women's basketball team got their first taste of playing on the road tonight, when they travelled to CSU San Marcos.  The Golden Eagles were unable to keep pace in the final second half of the game, eventually going on to lose 80-60.

The Cougars carried a 37-34 lead into the half, due to some poor free throw shooting (8-21) by the Golden Eagles in the first half.

In the second half, the Cougars slowly built their lead by converting easy put-back opportunities and taking advantage of their open opportunities.  The Golden Eagles on the other hand struggled with their offensive execution, despite correcting their issues at the foul line.

Natalia Hawthorne led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 22 points, five steals, and four rebounds.  Joirdan Jones added 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  While Brittani Walker and Shelby Madigan each scored nine and eight points respectively.

La Sierra, now 1-2 on the season, will have a busy week ahead of them.  On Tuesday, they will travel to Hope International, then return home on Wednesday to host Concordia University, before closing the week out at home against San Diego Christian College.
