Atherton, Calif. - The Golden Eagles women's basketball season came to an end with a 76-61 loss to William Jessup University, in a Cal Pac Conference semifinal match-up.  La Sierra was unable to find a rhythm in tonight's game, as the Warriors advanced to the championship game where they will meet Menlo College on Monday night.

The first nine minutes of the game featured both teams sharing their time with the lead.  A Joirdan Jones three point shot gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the game, at 14-10.  The Warriors Ashley Rose answered back with five straight points, to regain the lead, a lead they would never relinquish again.

By the midway point of the game, William Jessup pushed their lead to 32-20.  The Warriors used second chance opportunities and capitalized on 13 first half turnovers by the Golden Eagles to take the 12-point cushion into the locker room.

In the second half, La Sierra was able to cut the lead to single digit momentarily, but never threatened William Jessup's lead as they cruised to victory.

Ball control was an issue throughout the contest, as La Sierra struggled by turning the ball over a total of 23 times.  After shooting 25 percent in the first half, La Sierra shot much better in the second half, going 16-of-39 (41 percent).  But they did themselves no favors from the free throw line by shooting only 12-of-24.

Natalia Hawthorne scored 17 points and collected three steals, playing on a severely sprained ankle, suffered in practice earlier in the week.

Victoria Lowe finished with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Brittani Walker also added a double-double of her own with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The women's basketball team close out the season with a record of 14-15, tying their record for most wins in a season, which was set last season.   The team also qualified for postseason play for the first time in the program's history.

There is no doubt the team will have a new look next season as the Golden Eagles graduate all five members of their starting line-up.  Please stay tuned for information regarding signings for the women's basketball program.
