Riverside, CA - Head coach Jesse Olivas and the men's soccer program are happy to announce their first two signees for the 2013 season. The Golden Eagles athletic department and the men's soccer team welcome Angel Fierro and Fredy Diaz.
Angel Fierro is a 6'1 goalkeeper from Citrus Hill High School (Perris, CA). He helped lead the Hawks to league championships in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. Fierro was team captain and also an All Conference selection for three straight years.
Upon signing Fierro, coach Olivas said, "Angel is a talented goalkeeper who, with continued hard work, can have a great impact on our program." Fierro will study in the Criminal Justice program at La Sierra University.
Fredy Diaz is a forward/midfielder that will transfer to La Sierrra University from San Bernardino Valley College. Diaz played his high school soccer at Cajon High School (San Bernardino, CA). As a junior in high school, Diaz scored 13 goals and six assists to lead his team.
While at Cajon, Diaz was a team captain, an All League member for two years, and was named "Athlete of the Year" for three straight years. He also played football and was a member of the cross country and track teams at Cajon.
Diaz just completed his second season at San Bernardino Valley College. While at SBVC, Diaz was a member of the All Conference Team.
"Fredy brings in a good mix of experience and talent to our group, and we are excited to have him be part of the program."
