Riverside, CA - For La Sierra it was the first of five total games to be played during the course of the next four games. The Flames took both of the two seven inning games 5-2 and 8-3.
Game 1 remained scoreless until Bethesda broke the game open with five runs in the fourth inning. They scored the five runs on three hits and benefitted from two Golden Eagles errors.
Bethesda held the 5-0 lead until La Sierra scored two runs in the sixth inning. The Golden Eagles led their half of the inning off with two singles by Harrison Guiol and Ryan Diaz. Designated hitter Marquis Kidd singled home Guiol with a one-out single. Followed with a bases loaded walk by Adrian Gardea with two-outs, scoring Diaz for the second run.
Guiol and Diaz both finished with a multi-hit game. Diaz led the way with going 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Guiol added two singles going 2-for-4.
La Sierra finished with nine hits compared to only six for the Flames, but they struggled defensively, committing a total of four errors in the game.
In Game 2, Bethesda wasted no time taking control of the game with two runs in each of the first two innings. The Flames tacked on three runs in the fourth and another run in the seventh.
The Golden Eagles collected three runs on eight hits.
Designated hitter Jake Magness and Guiol collected two hits each. Magness was 2-for-3 in the game and also scored two of the Golden Eagles three runs. Guiol finished 2-for-4 (4-for-8 on the day) with two more singles and scored the one run for La Sierra.
Both teams combined for five errors in Game 2 with the Golden Eagles finishing with three and Bethesda charged with two.
The Golden Eagles will be back on the field this Sunday when they host Arizona Christian University for two game of a three game series. Sunday's doubleheader will begin at 12pm. The two teams will meet again for a single game on Monday afternoon, beginning at 1pm. The team will close their season out next Friday, April 26, when they will once again play host to Bethesda University.
