Fullerton, Calif. - With the help of a 14-2 run, towards the end of the first half, Hope International pulled away and never looked back as they went on to defeat the Golden Eagles 99-71.
With six minutes left in the first half, the Golden Eagles found themselves trailing the Royals by a score of 30-36. That would be as close as La Sierra would get for the remainder of the game.
The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures, led by Ian Mozeleski's 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 from the 3-point line. Wolfgang Wood added 17 points, which includes 7-of-8 from the charity stripe, and five rebounds. Daveon Woods pitched in 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Hope International shot 36-for-68 from the field (53%) versus 24-for-60 (40%) for La Sierra. Both teams connected on 7-of-15 (47%) from the 3-point line, while the Royals won the battle on the boards by outrebounding the Golden Eagles 50-29.
The men's basketball team will look to rebound when they travel to Chapman University on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled fro 7:30pm.
