Diego Fontes of Simi Valley, CA signs National Letter of Intent with La Sierra University. The highly skilled and aggressive midfielder should add a creative presence to the Golden Eagles attack and Head Coach Jesse Olivas cannot be more pleased. Diego was a 4 year varsity starter at Simi Valley High School, where he earned a number of awards that included, All Marmonte Second Team and All Marmonte League First Team.

"First off I wanted to thank the coaching staff Jesse Olivas and David Trevino as well athletic director Javier Krum for giving me the opportunity to play at the college level here at La Sierra University. I am really excited for the upcoming season and feel like we have a young and talented team with a lot of room to grow and improve and that will be done by working harder than anyone else so when the time comes we will be a contender for the playoffs and hopefully have a successful end to our season. I can't wait to get the ball rolling and I am looking forward to the beginning of the season as well as starting my career here at La Sierra University," said Diego.

"Diego's ability, dynamic versatility make him a great fit for our plans in the 2011 season. I am very glad to add a player like him to help build upon the success we have begun to have," said Coach Olivas after the signing. Look for Diego and all your Golden Eagles to start the season as they take on Vanguard University on Aug. the 24th.
