Riverside, Calif. - The men's basketball program has added transfer Garret Thompson to their 2017 class. The 5'8 has spent the last four years at Simpson University a fellow Cal Pac institution. The Red Hawks who underwent a coaching change this past spring, allowed Thompson permission to speak with La Sierra University about completing his athletic eligibility with the Golden Eagles. Thompson who recently graduated from Simpson with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, will compete as a graduate student in the MBA program at the Zapara School of Business. An amendment to NAIA legislation, about one year ago, opened the door for Thompson to pursue this option at a different school than where he received his undergraduate degree.
Prior to his time at Simpson, Thompson was a standout at Redding Christian High School (Palo Cedro, Calif.). He was a member of the varsity squad for three years and won a California Interscholastic Federation Section Championship in 2013. After playing with the Red Hawks for three seasons, Thompson will complete his eligibility as a member of the Golden Eagles as a redshirt senior.
We would like to welcome Garret to the Golden Eagles family and to the La Sierra University community.
