Friday Sep. 23rd, Phoenix AZ: The Golden Eagles faced ACU on a Friday afternoon where the temperature reaches 107* at kick off time. La Sierra controlled most of the game, but struggled to get the ball in the net, before Dakota Shelton (freshman M/D) scored his first collegiate goal in the 29th minute of the game. "Playing in this heat proved to be tough for us, even though we had control of the game, it was tough to get something going' Said Coach Olivas. ACU continued to battle and their efforts we rewarded when they scored a tying goal in the second half, its first goal against La Sierra in nearly 160 minutes of action this season.
Golden Eagles midfielder Luis Escamilla, who scored a goal and an assist a month ago against ACU, was credited with the match-winner at 75:33, taking a through pass from Jonas Ornelas and firing a low shot past the ACU Goalkeeper.
"Give credit to ACU, their game plan was to defend the whole game and they did a great job of it"

Both teams had their chances early, "It took us a while to match their intensity, but once we were able to match that the game evened out" Said Olivas.
The Golden Eagles had the chance to get on the scoreboard when they were awarded a penalty shot, but the shot was saved by the Embry Riddle Goalkeeper. The score remained the same until the second half, when there was a failed clearance inside La Sierra's box and the opponent made the most of it and the shot in traffic found the back of the net.
