Riverside CA: Freshman Diego Fontes (Simi Valley) scored the eventual game winner as the Golden Eagles pulled away for a 3-1 win over Cal State San Marcos on an Independent Conference match up on Wednesday night.

With the win La Sierra is now 10-5 and San Marcos finishes up their season with a record of 8-6-1.

La Sierra opened up the score when Luis Escamilla (Riverside) was taken down inside the box, earning the Eagles a Penalty shot. David Nolan (Dundalk Ireland) would score the goal. Cal State San Marcos even the score shortly after that with a strike from 25 yds out. The high pace game continued, Diego scored the eventual game winner when he shot from 35yds out beating the Cougars goalkeeper. Minutes later the Golden Eagles put the game away when James Ross (Yucaipa Ca) got the ball outside the box put a low shot past the keeper to take the score to 3-1.

"Our Defense did a great job tonight, Cole, Joel and DJ worked hard and kept us in the game, our midfielders were able to win the midfield battle, and our forwards did a great job to pressure their defenders" Said Coach Olivas, 

The Golden Eagles have two games left, one this coming Sunday vs. Marymount College, and finish up the season when they visit top ranked D-III Chapman on Oct. 30th.
