Number two seed CSUSM (29-7) pulled off an upset in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference championship match, defeating number one seed La Sierra University (23-3), 3 sets to one, by scores of 25-16, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23.

The Golden Eagles had made an historic come back by defeating Jamestown in 5 sets on the prior game, while CSUSM defeated Mayville State in 3 sets on the first semifinal game.

Lyndsey Sappington led the Cougars with 19 kills and Taylor Degraff added 12 kills and 15 digs. Lindsey Mitchell added nine kills and 10 digs, while Nicole May contributed 24 digs, Erin Talafus nine kills, and Alyssa Foster 47 assists.

The Golden Eagles were led by Samantha Arriaran with 26 assists and 13 digs. Maselina Semaia added 17 kills and Shelby Madigan had 10 kills and 11 digs for the Eagles (22-3).
