This was the second time this season that the Golden Eagles would play extra innings; the first time the Golden Eagles lost to Occidental College 7-6. Both teams (La Sierra & Pomona) went scoreless during the 8th and 9th inning. During the top of the 10th inning, Pomona went scoreless with Marcantoni struck-out out swinging, Bleichner filed out to right center, and Glass filed out to right for Pomona.
With the tie-breaking rule putting Michelle Zimprich at
second base at the start of the 10th inning, Melisa Ortiz hit a
sacrifice fly to the infield and allowing Michelle Zimprich to advance to
third. With a runner at third, Barbara Torres singled to the infield bringing Zimprich
home and giving the Golden Eagles the victory over Pomona Pitzer. The final
score was 4-3 after 10 innings.
Michelle Zimprich led the Golden Eagles with 3 runs and 2
hits, Melissa Ortiz scored the other run. Both Barbara Torres and Raeven Ball got an
RBI.
