The Golden Eagles softball team swept Dakota Wesleyan in Monday's night double header. La Sierra came out with a winning mentality after defeating Greensboro College 5-4 at the CSUSM tournament.
The first game started in a positive note with Barbara Torres hitting a double to deep left-center. By the end of the first inning the Golden Eagles were up 1-0 with Barbara Torres' run. La Sierra scored 3 more runs during the third inning. Cat Ogle scored the first run in that inning with Vanessa McGowan getting an RBI. Ravean Ball and Vanessa McGowan would score the other two runs. By the top of the 5th inning, the Golden Eagles were up 5-2. Raeven Ball, Melissa Ortiz, and Megan Padilla score the last three runs for La Sierra.
The second game started with Dakota Wesleyan taking an early 2-0 lead during the top of 1st inning. However, the Golden Eagle would come back and score 4 runs during the bottom of the 1st. Ogle, Ball, Ortiz, and Ramirez score during the first inning. Michelle Zimprich and Cat Ogle added two more runs for La Sierra during the second inning. Both teams went scoreless throughout the 3rd, 4th, and 5th inning. Raeven Ball singled deep down the LF line allowing Barbara Torres to score and put the game 7-2 for the Golden Eagles. Dakota Wesleyan would attempt to come back by scoring 4 runs during the 7th inning ; Nekrassoff hitting a grand slam and making the score 7-6 La Sierra.
The Golden Eagles were led by Raeven Ball with 1 run, 2 hits, and 2 RBIs. Melissa Ortiz added 3 RBIs and Shelby Daniel got 2 RBIs. Vanessa McGowan led the Golden Eagles in hits with 3, Cat Ogle scored twice during this game.
