The Golden
Eagles baseball team keeps getting stronger and stronger for the 2012-2013
season. During the last couple weeks, Coach Gamboa has worked extremely hard to
bring new talent to the team. The latest signings for the baseball team include
Matt Carle, Timothy Cartwright Jr, David Gutierrez, and Mark Boyer.
Matt Carle started
his baseball career playing in the Covina American Little League in Covina, CA
when he was 5 years old. At the age of 13, he was part of the Orangewood Pony
League for two years. He attended Sough Hills High School where he was part of
the '09 and '10 San Antonio League Champions. During his junior and senior
year, he was part of the Sierra League Champions after his high school team was
moved up to Division II. During his senior year, he won the Golden Glove Award.
Matt plans to major in Health Promotion/ Pre Emergency Medical. "I am thankful
to La Sierra for giving me the opportunity to further my education
and also allowing me to play the sport I love. La Sierra has given me the
opportunity to make a dream become a reality" said Matt Carle.

Timothy Cartwright
Jr. is 5'10" 1st base/Left Handed Pitcher. His baseball career
started at Northern Little League in Huntsville, AL. He. During his senior year,
he attended Sparkman High School where he had a perfect record 5-0 in all
of his starts. Some of his personal goals for his Golden Eagles career include
being a positive influence for his teammates and contributing to the program on
and off of the field. His team goals included being part of a great group of
brothers, and forming strong bonds. His biggest goal includes making playoffs
and ultimately winning The National Championship. His favorite
player is C.C. Sabathia. "I would like to thank my family, especially
my father, and friends for the support they have given me. I also
want to thank Coach Gamboa and the La Sierra coaching staff for the opportunity
to play baseball at La Sierra University" said Timothy.

David "DJ" Gutierrez began playing baseball at the age of 5 and quickly developed a passion for
the game. DJ is a right handed pitcher and 2nd basemen. He played for the Texas
Rangers scout team and was a selected player for the MLB academy in 2011. During
that year, he pitched against the Australia National team. DJ graduated from
Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, CA and finished the season with a 2.45
ERA. He is currently playing for Team Victory Collegiate baseball
team."I am extremely excited to join La Sierra University Baseball
team where I hope I can make an impact and help the team to achieve success. I
would like to personally thank Coach Gamboa for this opportunity and I would also
like to give special thanks to my family for guiding me throughout my baseball career", said DJ.

Mark Boyer started playing baseball for Jurupa American Little League at the age of four. He then played in the Jurupa Pony Organization up until his high school years. He attended Rubidoux/Patriot High School where he was part of the Baseball team all four years. During his Junior and Senior year, he received First-Team All Sunkist league honors along with First-Team All C.I.F. Southern Section during his senior year. During his senior year, he also received the Patriot High School Offensive Player of the Year Award. His team was Sunkist League Champions for three years. Mark plans to obtain a degree in Sports Management and eventually become a sports agent/ Baseball coach.
