The women's volleyball team carried momentum from their three wins this past weekend, into tonight's regular season finale against Cal State University - San Marcos. It was also senior night for the Golden Eagles, who paid tribute to their three seniors; Ashley Baumgaertel, Paula Hernandez, and Shelby Madigan. But unfortunately for La Sierra, they couldn't quite get over the hump, eventually falling to the Cougars, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Tonight was the rubber match between the two teams this season. Each team entered tonight's match having beat one-another earlier in the season. The Cougars used their serving game, great back-row defense, and unrelenting offense on their path to victory. They finished with a hitting percentage of .239, with 45 kills and 19 attack errors.

Sophomore outside hitter was the lone Golden Eagle to finish in double-figures in kills, with 10 kills and two errors, on 27 chances. Lupe Garcia trailed close behind with eight kills and eight digs on the night. Setter Colleen Stafford tallied 23 assists.

La Sierra falls to 20-11 on the season. Despite the loss the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team has already qualified for the Association of Independent Institution Conference playoffs. The team will travel to Mayville, North Dakota, in the next couple of weeks and attempt to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament for the second season in a row. The playoffs will be played the weekend of November 8-10, 2012.
