The Golden Eagles men's basketball team travelled to Pomona Pitzer College looking to get in the win column. After losing a close game to Chapman University the Golden Eagles were looking to turn the tide and get over the hump. But Pomona Pitzer had other plans, defeating La Sierra 87-64.
It was the first half that set the tone for Pomona Pitzer, who shot just under 61 percent, hitting 17 of 28 shots. They also benefitted from their trips to the charity stripe, capitalizing on 14 of 17 first half attempts. Comparatively, the Golden Eagles shot 35 percent from the field and were only awarded with two trips to the free throw line. Both teams shot 2 of 10 from beyond the arc in the first half. But Pomona took a comfortable 50-28 lead into halftime.
The second half was an evenly played half, as the Golden Eagles settled in and shot 45 percent to Pomona Pitzer's 40 percent and each team hit four 3-point shots.
Pomona Pitzer had four players in double figures led by Kyle Mc Andrews with 19 points. Jake Klewer finished with a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
La Sierra drops to 0-4 on the season. They will take Sunday off before heading to Cal Lutheran for a game on Monday evening. The Golden Eagles lost both meeting to Cal Lutheran last season. They will look to turn things around with a 7pm tip-off on Monday evening.
