Riverside, CA - Playing on a neutral court just off campus, the Golden Eagles women's basketball team played host to Oakwood University (Huntsville, Ala.) in the first of three weekend games in the La Sierra University Basketball Tournament.  La Sierra jumped out to the early lead and never looked back, on their way to a 66-45 victory.

Due to the late start time and the need to fit four basketball games into the evening, tonight's game was set at La Sierra Academy.  But the change of scenery didn't seem to phase the Golden Eagles.  They set the tone early, with their defense creating transition opportunities.  The Golden Eagles held a nearly 30-point lead in the first half, as they settled for a 24-point half time lead.

In the second half, Oakwood came out of the locker room determined to climb their way back into the ball game.  The Ambassadors cut the lead to 10-points with over 10 minutes to play in the game, but the Golden Eagles were able to re-group and absorb the run, eventually pulling away for the 66-45 win.

In the following women's game, Pacific Union College (Angwin, CA) defeated Andrews University (Berrien Springs, Mich.) 48-45.

The Golden Eagles push their record to 3-10 on the year.  The team will have a quick turn-around as they will match-up with Pacific Union College tomorrow afternoon at 4pm.  All games will move back to the Alumni Pavilion.  The first game tips off at noon, followed by three games every two hours thereafter.
