Riverside, CA - For the second consecutive game, the Golden Eagles found themselves in an overtime battle.  After pulling out a thrilling victory over Oakwood University in overtime on Saturday night, La Sierra was unable to muster the same magic tonight, losing to Pacific Union College, 72-73.

The game proved to be a tightly played match-up throughout.  The two teams played to a 30-30 tie in the first half.  In the second half, each team scored 33 points, sending the game to overtime at 63 apiece.  It was in overtime where the string was broken as the Pioneers out-scored the Golden Eagles 10-9, to secure the one point victory.

 

Each team enjoyed a modest lead during the course of the contest.  Pacific Union led by as many as 10 points in the latter part of the first half.  La Sierra enjoyed a seven-point lead with 3:21 left in regulation, but was unable to hang on to the lead.

 

The game resulted in six lead changes and five tie scores.

 

La Sierra shot 38-percent from the field (23-of-58) compared to 36-percent (21-of-58) for the Pioneers.  The Golden Eagles hit seven of their 12 3-point attempts, while the Pioneers connected on nine of their 25 attempts from beyond the arc..

 

Bennett Shaw led the Golden Eagles with 21 points.  Lyombo Loundu scored 13 points in the contest while Isaiah Hawkins finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

 

The Golden Eagles drop to 3-9 on the season.  La Sierra will close out this weekend's tournament schedule with a game against Andrew's University.  Andrew's is currently 2-0 this weekend.  The game is scheduled for a 4pm start time.
