Playing in their first game of the New Year, the Golden Eagles Men's Basketball team came up short, losing to Menlo College 75-60 during the first game in the Northern California trip.
By the end of the half, Menlo College was up 38-30; there were three ties and five lead changes before the first half was over. The Golden Eagles came out strong during the second half but it wasn't enough to catch up to Oaks of Menlo College.
The Golden Eagles shot 41.5% from the field, compare to the 37.5% from the Oaks. The difference came with Menlo College having 16 offensive rebounds and only 11 turnovers compare to the 10 offensive rebounds and 16 turnovers by the Golden Eagles.
Bennett Shaw was the only player in double digits for the Golden Eagles with 11 points. Joshua Zonker led the Golden Eagles in rebounds with 9.
The Golden Eagles will try to bounce back when they play Cal Maritime on Saturday night during their second game of their Northern California Trip.
