Redding, CA – After defeating William Jessup University last night, the Golden Eagles jumped back on the floor less than 24 hours later to face Simpson University.  Today's game was the first and only meeting between the two teams this season.  As La Sierra joins the Cal Pac Conference next year, the teams will play a home and away schedule.

The women's basketball team entered the contest, riding on the momentum of their longest winning streak of the season, but momentum alone wasn't enough to catapult their way to victory today.  Having approximately 16 hours between the end of the game the night before and the start of today's game, La Sierra struggled to match the Red Hawks energy this afternoon.

The Golden Eagles struggled from the field, shooting only 36-percent for the game.  The Red Hawks shot 47-percent, including 14-of-25 in the second half.   The Golden Eagles also struggled from the free throw line, connecting only eight of their 18 attempts.

Natalia Hawthorne led the team with 17 points to go along with four rebounds.  Victoria Lowe finished with 15 points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.  Shelby Madigan and Brittani Walker each pitched in with nine points.

The Golden Eagles record now stands at 10-12 on the season.  They will travel to Pacific Union College for another quick turnaround with a 12pm tip-off tomorrow afternoon.
