Riverside, CA - After playing road games for a month and a half, the women's basketball team returned to their home court.  The Golden Eagles played host to Pomona Pitzer College, whom they defeated 60-50 earlier in the month.  But the Sagehens ruined the "homecoming" by edging out a 57-55 win over La Sierra.

The Golden Eagles struggled all night long on both ends of the floor, but were able to erase a 33-28 lead, that Pomona Pitzer took into the half, early in the second half.  From that point on it was a back and forth battle.  Natalia Hawthorne tied the score at 55-55 with a three-point shot with 31.7 seconds left to play, but a defensive breakdown on the subsequent possession led to an easy basket for the Sagehens.  La Sierra had an opportunity with 10 seconds to play, but were unable to get a shot up to the basket.

Hawthorne had a very solid performance with 27 points in addition to seven rebounds.  Brittani Walker added 10 points and six rebounds while Victoria Lowe led the team with eight rebounds to go along with six points.

The loss drops the women's basketball team to 11-14 on the season.  The Golden Eagles will play another home game on Tuesday evening, when they host Bethesda University at 5pm.
