San Marcos, CA - After ten days off between their last game, a 63-55 win over Pacific Union College, the Golden Eagles remained on the road, traveling for a match-up with Cal State San Marcos. The Cougars, the No. 8 team in the country (NAIA Div. 1), controlled the game and cruised to a 111-71 victory over the Golden Eagles.
La Sierra was held to 33-percent from the field while San Marcos finished the game shooting 52-percent.
The Cougars finished with six players scoring in double-figures, led by Quincy Lawson who scored 18 points.
Bennett Shaw led the Golden Eagles with 25 points on 5-of-19 shooting including 13-of-15 from the free throw line. Taylor Scharffenberg and Carleton Coleman led the team with eight rebounds each, while pitching in with nine points and eight point, respectively.
The Golden Eagles drop to 4-21 on the season. They will return home after a six-week hiatus when they host Bethesda University in the second game of a women's and men's double-header this coming Tuesday. Tip-off for the men's games is scheduled for 8pm.
