Riverside, CA - The Golden Eagles women's basketball team began a five game stretch over ten days to finish their regular season. La Sierra played host to Bethesda University tonight and cruised to a 73-45 victory for their 12th win of the season.
La Sierra jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. They were able to take a 39-16 cushion into the half. The Golden Eagles held the Flames to 16-percent from the field in the first half.
In the second half, the Flames were forced to play with only four players after post player Jessica Smith fouled out at the end of the first half.
Brittani Walker led the Golden Eagles with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field. Walker also pulled down seven rebounds. Victoria Lowe added 10 points in the effort. Natalia Hawthorn, Taylor Johnson, and Mikayla Tickey each finished with eight points each. For the first time this season, every player on the roster scored at least two points in the game.
The women's basketball team improves to 12-14 on the season. The team will travel to Santa Barbara on Thursday to face No. 8 Westmont College (NAIA Div. I). La Sierra will return home on Sunday evening to play New Hope Christian College. The tip is scheduled for 5:00pm.
