Santa Barbara, CA - Playing in their second game of a five-game stretch in ten days to close out the regular season, the Golden Eagles travelled to Santa Barbara, CA, to face the No. 8 Westmont College Warriors (NAIA DI).  The Warriors, who are undefeated and in the top spot of the Golden State Athletic Conference standings, were able to avoid the upset by defeating La Sierra 73-59.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time, scoring the first six points of the game.  But after a timeout, Westmont quickly erased the early lead.  Joirdan Jones' three-point shot at the end of the first half, cut the Warriors lead to seven 32-25 going into the locker room.

After the Golden Eagles cut the lead to four in the early going of the second half, the Warriors had pushed the lead to 16 points by the midway point.  La Sierra would cut the lead to nine-points with three minutes left to play in the game, but that would be as close as they would get, eventually falling by the 73-59 final.

Shelby Madigan led the Golden Eagles with 17 points to go along with six rebounds.  Junior guard Natalia Hawthorne had 13 points on 5-of-6  shooting in just 18 minutes of play.  Brittani Walker added nine points and 10 rebounds while Jasmine Ruidera tallied eight points and four assists.

The women's basketball team is now 12-15 on the season.  The Golden Eagles will play New Hope Christian College this Sunday evening in the first game of a men's and women's double-header.  The women's game is scheduled to start at 5pm.
