Riverside, CA - La Sierra dropped their second game, in a two-game series, against California Baptist University.  The Lancers defeated the Golden Eagles 3-1 in yesterday's game and backed it up with a 10-1 win this afternoon.

The Lancers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as they scored a run in the first inning.  They followed things up with two runs in the second and added two more runs in the third.  Cal Baptist broke the game open with four runs in the fourth inning.

 

The nine runs scored, in the first four innings, were highlighted by two home runs.  Blaire Moore hit a two-run homerun, off starting pitcher Tyler Sirna, in the bottom of the third inning.  Matt Marnati followed with a three-run homerun over the right centerfield fence, off Michael Gonzales.  Marnati led the Lancer with four RBI's on the day.

 

The Golden Eagles lone run of the game was scored in the second inning, tying the score at 1-1.  Third baseman Michael Hinojos scored Ben Vasquez on a sacrifice fly.  La Sierra finished the game with six hits in the game.

 

Jon Bengard (3-0) picks up the win while Sirna (0-3) is charged with the loss.

 

The Golden Eagles will take tomorrow off before returning home this Sunday to host Ashford University.  Ashford University is located in Clinton, Iowa, and are members of the Association of Independent Institutions.  The Saints are currently 3-3 on the season.  The first game of Sunday's doubleheader is slated for an 11am start.
