Riverside, CA - Playing host to No. 5 Concordia University, the Golden Eagles fell short in both games of today's doubleheader.  The first game was a 5-0 loss while Concordia dominated in the second game, winning 10-1 in five innings.

Concordia pitcher, Courtney Young, pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout for the victory in Game 1.  Starting pitcher Aleena Bahling took the loss for the Golden Eagles. 

 

The only two hits in the game, came on singles by Diamond Turner and Jennifer Duenas.

 

In the second game, Concordia scored at least one run in each of the five innings played. 

 

The Golden Eagles were held to one run on one hit for the game.  The lone hit was an RBI double by Turner that scored Joselyn Salazar from second base.

 

Concordia scored their 10 runs on 13 hits and capitalized on three errors committed by the Golden Eagles.  Six different Concordia players had at least two hits in the game, including Annette Merjano who went 2 for 4 with a homerun and two RBI's.  Hannah Howell led Concordia with three RBI's in the game.

 

Brittani McGue picked up the win for Concordia while Salazar is charged with the loss.

 

La Sierra is now 4-19 on the season.  They will take the week off to focus on final exams, before jumping back on the field this coming Friday.  The Golden Eagles will host Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.) on Friday, followed by another doubleheader on Sunday, versus Simpson University (Redding, CA).  Both contests are scheduled for a 1pm start.
