Fresno, CA - The baseball team played their first of three doubleheaders on their trip up to northern California.
La Sierra dropped both games to Fresno Pacific this evening and were held scoreless in both contests, losing 8-0 and 10-0.
The Golden Eagles were held to just four hits in the first game, compared to 11 hits for the Sunbirds, who scored six of their eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Ryan Diaz finished 2 for 2, reaching base all three at-bats (hit-by-pitch).
Fresno Pacific left a total of 14 runners on base and capitalized on three Golden Eagles errors.
The Sunbirds wasted no time taking control of Game 2, as they exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the first inning, on their way to a 10-0 victory.
The Sunbirds pitching shut down the Golden Eagles, holding them to just one hit through seven innings of play.
The Golden Eagles lone hit of the game came on a leadoff single by Harrison Guiol in the top of the first inning. The Sunbirds then retired the next 21 batters in order, with eight by way of the strikeout.
With the losses, the Golden Eagles fall to 1-20 on the season. They will look to turn things around tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Atherton, CA, to face Menlo College in their second of three consecutive doubleheaders. On Wednesday, La Sierra will play Oregon Institute of Technology on the campus of Menlo College. Both contests are scheduled for a 12pm start.
