Riverside, CA - Golden Eagles goalkeeper, Alonso Lara, has been named Cal Pac Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.  He led the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 record last week, in a 2-1 conference win over Menlo College.

Early in the first half, Lara made a huge save, on a penalty kick by Menlo's Tung Le.  The save, not only kept the game scoreless, but also gave the Golden Eagles a much needed wave of energy that they would ride to victory.

Lara (4-3) finished with six saves in the match.  His current goals against average is 1.58, which is ranked fourth in the Cal Pac conference.

Lara and the Golden Eagles will look to avenge their 2-1 loss to Soka University, tomorrow afternoon, when they travel to Aliso Viejo to take on the Lions.  Tomorrow's match will be their only match of the week.

The Golden Eagles are currently 4-3 (3-1 Cal Pac).  Their next home match will be on October 8, when they host Marymount University in a Cal Pac match.
