Riverside, Calif. - The men's soccer team won their third straight match, in a 3-2 win over Soka University.  The Golden Eagles (5-3, 5-1 Cal Pac) were looking to avenge a 2-1 loss to the Lions (5-4, 5-1 Cal Pac) back on September 15.

The Lions started the scoring when Akira Takahata scored his first of two goals in the 17th minute.  Soka held on to the lead until the 26th minute when Kenneth Henry scored is first of two goals, on an assist by Dakota Shelton.  The two teams entered the half tied at 1-1.

Henry struck first in the second half, to give La Sierra a 2-1 lead, in the 57th minute, on a shot from the left side of the penalty box that found the back of the net.  Shelton snuck a low ball inside the near post on a pass from Freddy Diaz, putting the Golden Eagles up 3-1.  Takahata scored his second goal with just over four minutes remaining in the half on a free kick from 20 yards out.

The Golden Eagles held on for win number five, both overall and in conference play.  The win puts La Sierra in a three-way tie for first place in the Cal Pac south division, with Marymount holding a slight edge in win percentage with a 5-0 record.  La Sierra and Soka are tied with a conference record of 5-1.

Henry he now leads the Golden Eagles with 11 goals on the season (26 points).  For Shelton, a junior defender, tonight's goal was his first goal and points of the season.
