Riverside, Calif. - The men's soccer team had a three game winning streak snapped, in a 4-1 loss to Marymount College. The Golden Eagles were looking to keep pace with the first-place Mariners, but were unable to pull out the victory.
Things started well for the Golden Eagles who scored on an early goal by Roman Santiago, just under two minutes into the game. But the Mariners would answer back with four unanswered goals to secure the victory over La Sierra.
Viktor Ahlgren and Scott Smith each had a pair of goals for Marymount. Smith also tallied an assist on Ahlgren's first goal in the 25th minute and Fernando Ruiz assisted on the team's fourth goal, scored by Smith, in the 87th minute.
The Golden Eagles (5-4, 5-2 Cal Pac) still have two important conference matches to finish the week off. They will travel to northern California this weekend to face CSU Maritime Academy, on Friday, followed by a Sunday afternoon match at UC Merced.
