Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team bounced back from their first home loss of the season with a straight set victory over Simpson University, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
The Golden Eagles used an 8-0 run to take control of Set 1 and cruise to a 25-14 win in the first set. La Sierra would go one to win the next two sets on their way to an 8-1 Cal Pac record (16-7 overall).
Robyn Miller had a stellar match, leading the team with 12 kills, with only one error, on 25 total attempts (.440). Sasha Birt-Moody added seven kills on 11 attempts with only two errors (.455). Abby Latuhoi also tallied six kills on 10 attempts with no errors (.600), while playing only two sets. Lupe Garcia added six kills of her own and Lina Semaia, the team leader in kills, also pitched in with five kills.
Colleen Stafford directed the offense with 36 assists along with eight digs. The starting libero, Ana Flores, led the team with 10 digs.
The Golden Eagles finished the match with a total of 43 kills, eight errors, on 102 attempts, for a hitting percentage of .343.
Audrey Green, the Cal Pac leader in kills per set, led Simpson with 19 kills in the match.
Today's match was the first of two back-to-back conference matches for La Sierra. They will host William Jessup University tomorrow night at 8:30pm.
