Costa Mesa, Calif. - The men's basketball team fell to No. 6 Concordia University (NAIA DI), 91-58, on Friday afternoon, in the first game of the Vanguard Thanksgiving Tournament. The Golden Eagles (2-6, 0-1 Cal Pac) were unable to overcome a 55-percent shooting performance, including 6-of-10 from the 3-point line, from Concordia in the first half.
Concordia quickly jumped out to the early lead on a 13-3 to start the game in the first six minutes of play. For the next six minutes, the two teams played evenly, until Concordia closed the first half with another scoring run to push the lead to 45-26 in the final three minutes, on a 13-5 run.
In the second half, the Eagles steadily built on their lead to eventually cruise to victory.
Daveon Woods led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 14 points. Wolfgang Wood added 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Wood also led the added eight rebounds to lead the team.
Concordia finished with five players scoring in double-figures, led by DeLaun Frazier with 21 points.
The men's basketball team will play their second and final game of the tournament Saturday night, against the host Vanguard University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
