Costa Mesa, Calif. - The men's basketball team played in their second game of the Vanguard Thanksgiving Tournament, the Golden Eagles fell the Vanguard, 94-76.  A day after falling to No. 6 Concordia University (NAIA DI), La Sierra faced another Golden State Athletic Conference match-up, with a similar outcome.

La Sierra was forced to play catch-up once again, as the Lions jumped out to a 17-7 lead, midway through the first half.  By the end of the first half, the Lions had increased their lead to 51-28.  The Lions shot 50-percent from the field while connecting on 17-of-34 field goals.

Early in the second half, the Lions continued build their lead, pushing the deficit to 28 points, before the Golden Eagles mounted a run.  Over a six minute span, the Golden Eagles used a 15-2 run to cut the lead to 61-46.  That would be as close as the Golden Eagles would get for the remainder of the game.

Despite outscoring the Lions in the second half, the Golden Eagles were unable to erase the first half deficit they found themselves in.  The Golden Eagles shot the ball drastically better in the second half, as they knocked down 20-of 35 shots (57 percent).  The Lions answered with a decent 53-percent of their own, hitting 16 of their 30 attempts.

Wolfgang Wood led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 19 points, three assists, and two steals.  He was joined by guard CJ Goldsmith and Anthony Williams who each contributed nine points.

Vanguard finished the game with four players in double-figures led by Chris Gorman who matched Wood's 19 points.

The men's basketball team falls to 2-7 on the season and will have a quick turnaround as they will play their third consecutive game, in as many days, when they travel to Cal State Northridge tomorrow afternoon.  Tomorrow's game starts at 2pm.
