Riverside, Calif. - The Golden Eagles women's basketball team played host to Bethesda University for the second time this season, with similar results to the first meeting.  In tonight's game, four Golden Eagles scored in double figures, including a double-double from forward Brittani Walker, led La Sierra to a 74-67 overtime victory.  The win is also the third straight victory for the women's basketball team, their longest winning streak of the season.

Both teams struggled to gain their footing on the offensive side of the court, from the onset.  By the midway point of the first half, the Golden Eagles enjoyed a slight 10-6 lead, before the Flames tied the score at 10-10 just three minutes later.  The Golden Eagles first half shooting struggles continued through the remainder of the first half, resulting in a 25-21 halftime deficit.

The second half didn't start off much better for the Golden Eagles, as Bethesda started the first four minutes of the second half on a 9-2 run to push their lead to 34-23.

Within three minutes and 20 second the Golden Eagles erased the 11-point deficit, tying the score at 34-34.  But they didn't stop there, La Sierra continued to what would amount to an 18-0 run, taking a 41-34 lead.

The Flames were finally able to stop the run, catching the Golden Eagles at 43-43 with 8:41 remaining in the game.

The two teams battled back-and-forth for the remaining minutes, until Arta Kublacova gave the Flames a 53-56 lead, with a 3-point field goal with just 22 seconds on the clock.  After a tying field goal was block out of bounds, the Golden Eagles had one last shot with just 2.9 seconds remaining.

Joirdan Jones found Shelby Madigan, on the inbounds pass at the top of the key, who was subsequently fouled on the 3-point attempt with .8 seconds remaining, and awarding her three foul shots to tie the game.   Madigan calmly converted all three free throw attempts to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, the Flames struck first, as Kublacova connected on the first field attempt.  But an 8-0 run by the Golden Eagles gave them a lead they would never surrender, as they would go on to outscore Bethesday, 18-11 in over time, collecting their sixth win of the season.

Walker's double-double consisted of 10 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with six assists and three steals.  Shelby Madigan scored 17 points and collected nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Natalia Hawthorne followed with 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Sophomore Kristen Brummett tallied 12 points and three rebounds, while senior guard Joirdan Jones pitched in with nine points, six rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

The women's basketball team is now 6-9 on the season.  They will take a short break for the Christmas holiday, before jumping right back into action on Friday, December 27.  The Golden Eagles will host Pacific Union College on that Friday afternoon, at 12pm, in search of their first conference win of the season.
