Natalia Hawthorne averaged 16.7 points and 4.3 rebounds, while leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 record this past weekend.  Hawthorne was named Cal Pac Player of the Week for her efforts this past weekend.

After dropping their first game, a narrow loss to No. 22 Menlo College, La Sierra was able to rebound to win the final two games of a grueling three games in three days trip, to northern California.

Hawthorne scored 21 points in the opening game loss to Menlo, by connecting on 11-of-13 free throws.  She followed up with 15 points, three rebounds, three steals, and three assists in a victory over Pacific Union College.

But she saved the best for last.  After the team gave up a double-digit lead in the final minutes of the final game, at Cal State Maritime, Hawthorne calmly knocked down the game winning 3-point shot from deep to secure the victory, with .7 seconds remaining on the clock.  She finished the final game with 14 points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Hawthorne is currently leading the Cal Pac in scoring average with 18.6 points per game.  She is also second in the Cal Pac in steals and fifth in field goal percentage.

Twice this season she has surpassed the 30-point mark.  In a win over Biola University she scored a career-high 36 points, and more recently she tallied 30 points in a win over Northern New Mexico.

Hawthorne and her teammates will be back in action on Thursday evening, when they travel to No. 9 The Master's College (NAIA DI) for a non-conference game.
