Rocklin, Calif. - In what was a game to determine control of 2nd place in the Cal Pac standings, the Golden Eagles were defeated by William Jessup University tonight, 80-69.  The Warriors now control their own destiny with their three remaining games in the regular season.

The Warriors wasted no time as they took control of the game with a 9-2 run in the first five minutes.  William Jessup came out with the hot hand, knocking down their open looks from beyond the arc.  The Golden Eagles cut the lead to 6-9 with four straight points, but by the 10:55 mark of the first half, the Warriors had extended to their largest lead of the night, 25-9, with the help of a 16-3 run.

But the Golden Eagles stormed their way back over the next six minutes, putting together a 22-3 run of their own, to take a 29-28 lead with 5:13 remaining in the half.

By the halftime break, the Warriors rebounded in time to take a 35-34 lead into the locker room.  The Warriors benefitted from a 7-for-13 shooting performance from the 3-point line in the first half.

In the second half, the two teams jockeyed back-and-forth, with each team sharing the lead at times.  But it was a 10-0 run by the Warriors midway through the second half that proved to be the pivotal turning point and difference in the ball game, as the Warriors defended their home court on their way to victory.

Natalia Hawthorne led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 22 points, followed by Brittani Walker who finished with 14 points to go along with eight rebounds.

Shelby Madigan contributed 12 points, and Joirdan Jones added 11 points and seven rebounds.  Victoria Lowe led the team with nine rebounds to go along with four points.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 6-4 in Cal Pac play (12-14 overall).  They will now turn their attention to Simpson University.  La Sierra will play their final regular season road game on Saturday night, in Redding, Calif.  The Red Hawks are currently 3-6 in Cal Pac play (9-16 overall).  The Red Hawks will play William Jessup on tomorrow night up in Redding.  Saturday night's game is scheduled for a 6:30pm tip-off.
