Riverside, Calif. - Aleena Bahling pitched five scoreless innings, in today's Golden Eagles victory over Lewis & Clark College, 8-0, in the first game of the doubleheader. The offense tallied a total of seven hits, led by Brittany Martinez and Lindsay Sleigh who drove in four of the eight runs, with two RBI's apiece.
Bahling went five complete innings, while allowing only one hit in the game.
The Golden Eagles took immediate control by scoring three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. La Sierra held onto the lead until the 4th inning when they erupted for five runs.
Game 2 proved to be a pitchers duel throughout, with Lewis & Clark coming out on top, by a final of 1-0.
Madison Hollenbeck went the distance, picking up the win for Lewis & Clark, giving up no runs on five hits.
Emily Campos pitched another great game, but found herself on the losing end of another close ball game. Campos pitched five complete innings, giving up one run on four hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.
Five different players picked up a hit for the Golden Eagles. La Sierra was unable to advance a runner past second base in the game. Their two-out rally, with two straight singles, in the bottom of the 7th inning ended with a fly out to deep left center field that was tracked down for the final out.
The women's softball team is now 2-8 on the season. On Sunday afternoon, the team will travel to St. Katherine's College for a couple of scrimmage games. Sunday's doubleheader is set for a 12pm start.
