Congratulations to Erika Basurto, Melanie Vidaurri, and Monique Villasenor who were recently named to the California Pacific Conference Softball All Conference Team.

After setting a team record for most wins in a season (13), the Golden Eagles women's softball program had three representatives recognized on the All Conference team, led by their catcher Monique Villasenor.

Villasenor was the only catcher chosen on the 16-member All Conference team.  Vidaurri was one of four infielders chosen, while Basurto was named to the squad regardless of her position.

Simpson University led all teams with six representatives, followed by La Sierra, Menlo, and William Jessup who each had three representatives.  Rounding things out was Embry-Riddle who had one representative on the team.

Villsenor led the team in hitting average (.374), slugging percentage (.570), and runs batted in (27).  She was second on the team in hits (40), just behind Katie Witherby who finished the season with 41 hits, to lead the Golden Eagles.  Villasenor also led the way with six doubles and five homeruns on the season, while scoring 24 runs.  Her 24 runs scored is tied for first on the team with Mercedes Gasparovic.

Basurto finished the season with a .318 batting average, with 35 hits, including three doubles and two triples.  She also finished second on the team in runs scored (22).  Basurto didn't only contribute with her bat, she also directed the outfield from the centerfield position, robbing many base hits with her glove and utilizing a strong throwing arm to contribute five assists on the season.

Last but not least is Melanie Vidaurri, who played second base for the Golden Eagles this season.  The freshmen infielder had 85 put-outs and 54 assists on the season.  She also finished the season with 30 hits, including seven doubles and one homerun.  Vidaurri tallied 15 runs scored and 13 runs batted in, during her freshmen campaign.

The softball team finished with a record of 13-28 (5-7 Cal Pac) on the season.  They will return all but three players from this year's roster, while including 11 new student-athletes who recently signed with the program.
