"La Sierra overwhelms Pomona-Pitzer"
The Golden Eagles traveled to the Raines Center on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer College on Wednesday and left with a convincing 83-48 victory over the Sagehens. The game was never in doubt as the Golden Eagles opened up a 9-0 lead to start the game and never looked back.
On a night that saw La Sierra shoot a season best 48% from the field and an even hotter 52% from behind the arc, the Women of La Sierra dominated the game both inside and out. The Sagehens were out-rebounded 46-27, including 15-7 on the offensive end.
The Golden Eagles had 2 players with double-doubles on the night, Freshman Joirdan Jones with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Freshman Stephaine Bryant with 17 points and 10 boards. Not to be outdone, Junior Ashley Baumgaertel added a game high 20 points. Freshman guard Evie Purdom scored a career high 8 points as all players scored in the victory. With the win, the Golden Eagles upped there record to 5-11, including 5-5 over the last 10 games.
La Sierra returns to action on Friday, Dec. 17, at 2:00 PM as they host the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific University, another tough GSAC opponent.
