Derek Robbins
Head Coach- 5th Season

Coach Derek Robbins enters his fifth season at La Sierra University, the Golden Eagles men's basketball program has seen tremendous growth, with over 80 recruits trying out for the men's summer league team. This is truly a blessing for the interest in our program, and the chance to share time as coach, athlete and student. Coach Robbins is grateful to have this special opportunity to coach basketball at La Sierra, and he believes that you can compete in sports but at the same time, honor and glorify God.

Over the past 20 plus years, he has coached and worked with players ranging from high school, to AAU top basketball talent. At both levels he has achieved success, and watched some of his former players at the college and professional levels. Coach Robbins earned a bachelors degree in Kinesiology in 2001 from California Baptist University in Riverside California. Coach Robbins played at Los Angeles Power house, Banning High school for Coach Chris Ferragamo, who had the biggest influence on his life, and is still a tremendous blessing to him today. One of Coach Ferragamo quotes to his players was, enthusiasm is the force that creates momentum, be enthuse with your life, and great things will occur. This is something that coach Robbins shares with his players today. Coach Robbins was also a standout football player at Riverside Community College, as well as tryouts in the National Football League and, the United States Football League (USFL), but his carrier was cut short due to injury.

The Lord has blessed his family with a wonderful wife (Lori) and five children (Johnny, Gabriel, Miles, Ryan, and Megan). They are all thrilled with the opportunity he has been given to impact lives through sports and the Lord.
