Head Coach

Coach Gabe Gamboa has had the La Sierra University since the 2010/11 season. Though relatively new to the program, he has already made significant contributions with his wealth of knowledge and program improvements.

Prior to taking over the baseball program, Coach Gamboa was the Head Coach and Team Coordinator for the ABCL Tigers. In addition, he has instructed for California Instructional Baseball Academy and Amateur Baseball Development. Coach Gamboa has worked as Head JV Baseball Coach and Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Ramona High School in Riverside, California, and has also been giving private hitting instruction for many years. He has worked as a volunteer high school baseball coach with Arlington High School and La Sierra Academy both in Riverside, California.

Coach Gamboa was a participant in the 1996 Jr. Pan American Games played in Mexico City, Mexico. He played for Coach Gary Rungo of Arlington High school in Riverside, California, and Coach Gamboa was personally mentored by former professional baseball player Mike Stubbins.

Gamboa has been married to his wife, Anna, for 5 years. They are expecting their first child in May 2012. They currently reside in Corona, California. They own and run several successful businesses, and spent several years studying business development, business law and tax law.

Assistant Coach

Michael Moheit joins the La Sierra University Baseball program as the Assistant Coach and will assume the duties as the Recruiting Coordinator.

He arrives to La Sierra University after helping start the baseball program at Pacifica College, where he was the infield & catcher coach, and the recruiting/schedule coordinator. He also served as the hitting coach in which he improved the team batting average to its all time high.

He brings over 20 years of experience coaching at the college and high school levels. He has filled coaching rolls as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, First and Third Base Coach, Hitting Instructor. During the summer, Moheit coaches the Elsinore Heat of the Orange County Collegiate League (OCCBL).

His playing career consisted of professional baseball with the Kansas City Royals organization and stints in the Independent Leagues, where he earned honors as a gold glove winner andreceivedhitting awards.

Moheit is married to his wife Renee, They currently reside in Temecula, California. Between them, they have six children. Chad, Taylor, Alex, Jordan, Cory and Trevor.

Assistant Coach

John Bonifacini joins the La Sierra Baseball program for the 2012 season assuming the duties of Pitching Coach.

Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Coach Bonifacini was an assistant coach at Oak Ridge High School in 2008, and held various player/coach positions during his professional/international playing career.

As a collegiate player, he pitched at College of Marin('06) and Sonoma State University('05, 07-'08). In his one season at Marin he helped lead the Mariners to the fisrt Bay Valley Conf. Championship in 12 years. At Sonoma State he was a part of multiple #1 nationally ranked Seawolves teams, including helping SSU reach the first DII College Baseball World Series in school history while eventually finishing 3rd in the nation. After graduating with a B.S. in Kinesiology, Coach Bonifacini spent the last three seasons pitching professionally in numerous Independent and International baseball leagues.

Coach Bonifacini is originally from El Dorado Hills, CA, just outside Sacramento, and currently resides in Ontario, CA. He is a Speed and Strength coach in his spare time.
