[Volleyball] Women’s Volleyball Eliminated With Loss to San Marcos

After losing their first match of the day to Mayville State, La Sierra was attempting to keep their season alive with win over Cal State San Marcos. It was a re-match of last season’s Association of Independent Institutions championship match. But this year San Marcos, who controlled the match from the beginning, eliminated the Golden Eagles in three games on the first day of play, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21.

The women’s volleyball team opened postseason play against Mayville State University, the host school of the 2012 A.I.I. National Qualifying Tournament. La Sierra entered the tournament, as the #4 seed while Mayville State is the #5 seed. But with less than 24 hours to get acclimated to their surroundings and a two-hour time difference, the Golden Eagles dropped their opening match to the home team in three straight games, 25-22, 25-15, 25-20.

[Volleyball] Women's Volleyball Returns to AII Playoffs

The Golden Eagles women’s volleyball team arrived in Mayville, North Dakota, this morning to compete in the 2012 State Farm AII National Qualifying Tournament. La Sierra enters the tournament as the #4 seed, with an overall record of 21-11. Last season the Golden Eagles were defeated by CSU San Marcos, this year’s #1 seed, in the championship game.

Riverside, CA - With over two weeks between their final match of the regular season and the Association of Independent Institutions Conference playoffs, the Golden Eagles added a match against West Coast Baptist for this afternoon. In an effort to stay in game shape form, the Golden Eagles hosted West Coast Baptist for the third time this season. La Sierra had won the previous two meetings between the two teams this season. Friday's match made it three out of three for the Golden Eagles over West Coast Baptist, in three straight games, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.

[Volleyball] Women's Volleyball Close Out Regular Season With Loss to San Marcos

The women's volleyball team carried momentum from their three wins this past weekend, into tonight's regular season finale against Cal State University - San Marcos. It was also senior night for the Golden Eagles, who paid tribute to their three seniors; Ashley Baumgaertel, Paula Hernandez, and Shelby Madigan. But unfortunately for La Sierra, they couldn't quite get over the hump, eventually falling to the Cougars, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Riverside, CA - After a quick turnaround, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team capped off a weekend sweep, by defeating Embry-Riddle University in three straight games. On Friday, the team defeated Arizona Christian University in three straight games. Saturday night, La Sierra beat Johnson & Wales University. And with an early start of 11:00am, the Golden Eagles responded to complete the three-match weekend sweep, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17.

La Sierra continued to build on their recent momentum. Tonight's match was the seventh of nine straight home matches, to closeout the regular season. Needless to say, their home court has been treating them well. Playing with a renewed confidence and energy level, the Golden Eagles secured their fifth victory, during this stretch of seven straight home matches, with this latest dominating performance versus Johnson & Wales University, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

In an attempt to finish the regular season in strong fashion and take momentum into the playoffs, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team played their first of three matches this weekend. La Sierra hosted Arizona Christian University, at the Alumni Pavilion, in their first and only match between the two teams this season. The inspired group of Golden Eagles came out ready to play, soaring to a three-game win, 25-20, 25-12, 25-21.

[Volleyball] Women's Volleyball Unable to Keep Pace with No. 8 Mustangs

Looking for their third straight victory, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball had the tough task of hosting the No. 8 team in the nation, The Master's College. They were also looking to even the season series, after a three-game loss to the Mustangs back in late August. Utilizing a steady offense and unrelenting defense, the Mustangs defeated La Sierra (17-10) in three straight games for the second time this season, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21.

The Golden Eagles women's volleyball team finished off a busy week, hosting San Diego Christian College tonight at the Alumni Pavilion. La Sierra defeated the Hawks during the first week of the season in four games. Tonight, the Golden Eagles made quick work of the Hawks in a three game victory, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19.

Tonight marked the rubber match in the season series between La Sierra University and Hope International University. The Royals took the first match of the season in the season-opening tournament hosted by La Sierra, but the Golden Eagles came back to take the second meeting just a few weeks later. Needless to say both teams entered tonight's match with enormous focus and energy, looking to take the season series. But the Golden Eagles would secure victory in four games, 25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 26-28.

Playing their second of nine straight home matches, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team hosted No. 15 Westmont College in tonight's match. La Sierra was looking to even the season series at one apiece, after a loss to the Warriors earlier last month. But despite a strong start by the Golden Eagles, they were up-ended in three straight games, 25-23, 25-15, 25-20.

After a disappointing loss to CSU San Marcos last week, the Golden Eagles women's volleyball team played host to West Coast Baptist College, in what was a late addition to the season schedule. Tonight's match was the first of nine straight matches to be played at home to close out the regular season, for the Golden Eagles. And the team started the home stand with a dominating performance in a victory over West Coast Baptist in three straight games, 25-17, 25-8, 25-21.

San Marcos, CA - In a much-anticipated match-up between La Sierra University and No. 9 CSU San Marcos, it was the Cougars who jumped out to the early lead and never looked back. The two teams met in the season opening La Sierra University Tournament, when the Golden Eagles pulled out a five-game victory. A month and a half later, the Cougars evened the score with a three-game win over La Sierra, 25-13, 22-25, 20-25.

Riverside, CA - The women's volleyball team entered tonight's match with the University of Redlands looking to extend their current win streak to five. On the other side of the net, Redlands was attempting to put an end to a three-match losing streak. The Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead, by taking Game 1, before the Golden Eagles stormed back to win Games 2 and 3. But La Sierra was unable to finish off the Bulldogs who rallied for the 3-2 victory, 25-22, 12-25, 13-25, 25-15, 15-11.
