Robert M. Castillo, M.A., has served in the area of Athletics and Physical Education in various capacities since 1997. He began his career coaching and teaching at Loma Linda Academy and most recently completed his 10th year as the Athletic Director for Pacific Union College. In this role he served: as a faculty for the Exercise Science Health & Nutrition department, facilities manager, men's and women's basketball coach. His proudest accomplishments include: leading teams to Cal Pac Play offs for NAIA DII 2005-2011, the development of the Character of Champions curriculum for PUC, as well a comprehensive and technology-based sports information model. Robert comes to La Sierra University with a commitment to value-based leadership development, ample experience in collegiate coaching, and a passion for being part of a community that believes there can be excellence in Adventist collegiate sports.
Robert graduated from Pacific Union College, in 1997, with his B.S. in Physical Education. He received his M.A. in Coaching and Athletic Administration, in May of 2011, from Concordia University (Irvine, Calif.).
Robert is married to April Castillo. They have two kids, Maya (9) and Ashton (6).
